When trying to edit an automation point or otherwise dragging something with the Alt-Key pressed down, the Application window is moved instead of the dragged widget.

Your window manager has a nasty bit of configuration in place that overrides essential application rights: to interpret mouse clicks freely. To fix this follow these steps:

  • KDE4: Open System Settings -> Window Behaviour (under Workspace Appearance/Behaviour) -> Select "Window Behaviour" on left tab (duh) -> Window Actions on top tab (DUH!) -> Fix settings in the lower part to your likings.

Ubuntu Unity steps will follow, once i get a suitable VM running ;) (use Ubuntu Studio/KXStudio, if you can, it doesn't come with the nasty interface but xfce4 - and others ;)

Settings > Window Manager Tweaks > Accessibility

"Key used to grab and move windows:" and set it to some other key :)
