Short: how to keytrack an EQ octave accurately?

I find the keytrack device incredbly hard to set up. To start, it doesn't even show the whole MIDI range on the interface, and control handles can be moved outside the interface.

Anyway, I'm trying to do this for more than 30 minutes now, accurate octave tracking seems to be impossible to do. With relative mode a straight line is easier to get, but since the modulation always starts from a negative value, it messes up the modulation of the frequency.

Does anybody know how to set this up?
