how to use multiple vst instruments and devices on the one track? the only way around I found is the 'XY instrument', but I'd prefer to just throw everything I want to hear on the device panel. thank you

If you want multiple instruments, use an Instrument Layer. You can add as many instruments as you want inside the instrument layer. Each will receive the MIDI from the track, and each will have a mini channel strip to mix the outputs into the track audio.
