I was wondering, trying to shorten a Chord via the Knife-Tool. I can only cut one Note? Otherwise i need to cut the Clip, wich cut all inside too.

I was trying ALT, SHIFT, and CTRL...but this not working.

There is no other way? Of course, i think we need two [STRG]+Click

The Solution.

hrrld is right: It works if u "not" mark or click over the Notes, when selecting the cut point via cursor. select the time by clicking on a empty place e.g. between notes, the time line is then more white, ctrl+e cuts all notes in this time, you see it after click on a empty place again. You dont need the knife tool for that.

What is not logical, when cut notes, so i select notes...anyways.

ctrl-e works in the piano roll to split all notes at a specific time.

1) Enter multiple notes

2) Select the time at which you want to cut

Not quite as cool as drawing arbitrary lines with the knife tool, but, maybe helpful.

3) Press ctrl-e

  • All the notes at that time are split into two, at that time.

Hope that helps.

OH, i have it. Select the time without clicking the note is that point. so selecting the time via click on a empty place (e.g between notes) and then cntrl+e...haha heureka

This not works at all... strg(=ctrl) + e alt + e shift + e

In the Shortcutlist is ctrl + e named SPLIT but i see no reaction, wherever i try this (samples, midiclips)

I updated my answer with screenshots. It works for me, maybe we're talking about different things?

Select all the notes (lasso them with pointer tool, or select one by one while holding Ctrl), then grab the right border of one of them and make it shorter. Other notes should follow.

This not what i want to do...selecting and grab ends or starts is known. I need to cut, for working creative with interaction of other elements...and so on.

Not at computer so can't check but what about highlighting the section of the notes you want to split off with the time tool and then ctrl + e?

In BWS 3 this not works with windows 7 can only cut the clip not more than the notes with one key combination+click... i try: - strg+click, - alt+click, - shift+click

knife tool just sucks, we can also not cut diagonal, or freehand...this should be fixed.
