This is likely more a request than a question, although perhaps there's an answer out there to solve my problem.

My issue is that I'd like to be able to select my ASIO driver without the device having to be connected so that I can configure my sessions and make the most out of my spare time available for recording. Trying to select the driver whilst disconnected presents the following message:

The selected audio device is not present: ASIO Madiface USB

Please connect it or choose another device.

A bit of background:

  • I use my Surface Pro 4 tablet with bitwig.
  • I have my audio hardware in a flight case (RME Fireface UFX II + 500 series rack)
  • I have a young family so cannot spend too much time with my hardware but it's easy enough to have my tablet around
  • The inbuilt audio drivers are sufficient for playback and mixing, thus I can take my tablet to work for use over lunch

I'd love the ability to configure my hardware I/O without having to connect to my hardware. So, can we allow selection of the ASIO driver while the device is disconnected?

Alternatively is there a way to fake the presence of the ASIO driver. I've not done it in a while but I believe if I connect the device, then disconnect it I can still configure it, but I'd like not to have to do that.
