I'm testing Bitwig Studio with MPK Mini.

Its knobs appear pretty dead – though it does work on Ableton Live, so the controller is OK. I can play melodies with its keys, and its pads seem to work with drum machine, too.

I can't "hard-map" the knobs (via "Learn Controller Assignment"), and they don't automatically control macros when I enter macro view, either.

Where should I look? The controller has been detected by BS in the controller settings, and its input and output are activated.

Actually, I just realised that if I add my MPK Mini as "Generic Keyboard + 8 Device Knobs", I can at least manually assign its knobs to parameters.

I have 2 generic sets of knobs and both automatically control the macros on a selected track. Is yours doing that now?

Nope, it's still the same. Knobs do nothing if my MPK Mini is as MPK Mini in controller settings. If it's there as generic, I can map its knobs, but they won't control the macros automatically. They do that in Ableton Live, though, so I know it's OK and not broken (I actually have three of them and they all act the same).

Hmm.. maybe it only works with some generic controllers then. Hopefully there will be user scripts that will do it eventually. The Keyboard I use is an Oxygen 25 3rg gen, only cost about £50.

For starters: I don't have a AKAI MPK Mini but a LPD8, but I have also 8 knobs. After I started the AKAI editor, assigned the knobs with CC 20 to 27 and saved it to a template it worked fine for me.

That's a point, you do need to set the knobs to those settings, I had to do the same.

Came to confirm, on my part, that it does seem that the only way to get MPK Mini to work in such way that its knobs work with macros automatically (with no manual mapping required) is to set its knobs to CC20-27 and then select it as a generic controller in the controllers menu. It won't work as MPK Mini.
