Hallo,

I am on Ubuntu 19.10.

Lately I cant get any audio output from Bitwig, when I am using the Jack driver. (Alsa works allright.)

Input is working for Bitwig and output of all other audio programs that use Jack as well.

What could be the problem?

For illustration purposes I attached a screenshot of my connect page in Qjackctl.

Best

Tim

Okay, wow I found the answere!

The problem was that the inputs and outputs in Bitwig were named the same.

I never looked properly at the log. But now I spotted the error message:

Wed Apr 1 12:00:34 2020: ERROR: port_name "Bitwig Studio:1 2-L" already exists

Wed Apr 1 12:00:34 2020: ERROR: port_name "Bitwig Studio:1 2-R" already exists

Wed Apr 1 12:00:34 2020: ERROR: port_name "Bitwig Studio:3" already exists

Wed Apr 1 12:00:34 2020: ERROR: port_name "Bitwig Studio:4" already exists

Wed Apr 1 12:00:34 2020: ERROR: port_name "Bitwig Studio:1" already exists

Wed Apr 1 12:00:34 2020: ERROR: port_name "Bitwig Studio:2" already exists

Wed Apr 1 12:00:34 2020: ERROR: port_name "Bitwig Studio:3 4-L" already exists

Wed Apr 1 12:00:34 2020: ERROR: port_name "Bitwig Studio:3 4-R" already exists

Wed Apr 1 12:00:34 2020: ERROR: port_name "Bitwig Studio:5" already exists

Wed Apr 1 12:00:34 2020: ERROR: port_name "Bitwig Studio:6" already exist

After renaming my inputs to different names then the outputs, everything works flawless again. Thanks fsciarra62 for your help. So remember label you inputs and outputs differently!

Nice shot, man!

Actually I was puzzled by something in the picture, but I didn't really paid close attention.

And I didn't know there was that kind of problem.

So thank you for sharing your experience! Really.

Hi Tim.

Just to ask...

Did you create the output bus at least for speakers in audio settings?

Please answer, I’m happy to try to help.

Hi inkeye...

That's definitely strange...

I have more or less the same configuration on ubuntustudio 19.10...

How is your jack configured ?

Strange...

Just to be picky, you wrote "lately"... does this mean that this configuration was working properly before and suddenly.... taaac.... doesn't anymore? Fabrizio

Yes, it worked one day and then the next not. Maybe there was a Bitwig update in between but I cant figure out what else might have changed. I noticed it right at the soundcheck for a concert, which was pretty shitty...
