Looking for advice. I have an iMac which is great but I need a portable option. I won't be using it live, mainly just for "sketching" out songs and maybe doing some simple finished pieces and recording guitar onto single tracks, etc...

I'm thinking of getting a new Macbook Air and was wondering what others experience is running Bitwig on them? Any recommendations for RAM and storage?

The other option is the Macbook Pro but I like the portability of the Air better.

The Air is not THAT powerful, if you don't plan to do CPU intense stuff (like run 4 Diva instances ;) - you maybe happy, especially when you can live with 44 KHz and don't need ultralow latency - which is okay for sketching, i think.

But as soon as a project gets bigger, you're likely to run into problems. Maybe try this out first?

thanks for the reply riot! I assume the new Macbook Pro would be ideal then in this regard?

If you're into OSX and don't want to use anything else, i'd say so, yes.

I have used both 2011 and 2014 Macbook Air's with BWS and found that with 8GB minimum the program runs fine for sketching and basic production, without delving too deep into using the Air with external hardware & devices in which latency enters the equation.
