I can't believe it is so ^%!-ing difficult* to get Machine 2.3 to work as VST or standalone with Bitwig. Does anyone have any work-flow suggestions or MIDI routing techniques?

I would simply like to have Maschine running as an instrument, and each sound I select is able to be recorded as a track in Bitwig. The closest I can get to a usable solution is to create a pattern in Maschine, then drag and drop it as Audio into a clip in Bitwig. Is it not possible as MIDI?
I'm hoping that with 1.2 and track grouping, each Maschine group can have a subgroup of individual sounds, each controllable in Bitwig. But until then...ugh. I've tried everything I can find available on youTube...not working.

Please help. It's killing me.

This video will probably help you (I was stuck on this too).
