As the Title says :

I would like a Preference to keep all folders closed when performing a search ...

BECAUSE : My sound Library is Huuuuuge ... with thousands of folders and everytime I perform a search (lets' say for "Clap") all those damn folders are opening at once !!!

And this is sooooooo annoying ! (How can I navigate inside a list of 19560 opened folders, to reach the folder that I am looking for ??? let's say the "vengeance samples" or "vandalism" folder ; because I think I want a clap from them ???)

How are you guys feeling about this ?

+1 I assume we're talking about sound location folders, as the actual folders within these locations are closed by default?

I second that. folders should be collapsed at standard and have a expand all or collapse all function through a right click

I agree it's quiet anoying to scroll through hundreds of opened folders. I think Bitwig keeps the folders open so you can navigate through all of them with the keyboard's arrow keys. But I've noticed that once a folder is closed, you can't actually open it if you use only the arrow keys. This is something that i'd love to see improved.

To resume:

  • Keep all the folders closed by default
  • be able to open/unfold a folder that contains sub-folders using the right arrow key or a right click

Exactly Ton-ish ! ... and I really hope our lovely Team @Bitwig will implement it asap :)

(I had the same request for Vengeance Phalanx, and they did it in the following update ...)

It is so basic to navigate this way .... Because of Ableton we are so used to it ...

Right arrow open the folder (or plays the sound, if a sound is selected) Left arrow close the folder ...

Yes Please - maybe "Alt Click" to collapse all folders - it is quite hard to navigate the folders when you have hundreds open
