I have downloaded bitwig as it came with my nektar impact LX88+ and have downloaded all of the instruments and sounds that are on the programme (that I can find). Where is the piano roll? Or do I have to buy a piano VST? I'm very new to all of this stuff so I don't have much of a clue as to what i'm doing!!

Make an instrument track, then double click on any clip cell on that track. That will create a clip. Double click again on the clip and the Edit view opens. Now you have your piano roll at the bottom. Or click Shift-Tab which will give you the expanded piano roll view.

This kind of question fits into the category of helping yourself to the manual. Or get the Bitwig tutorial from Groove3.

Click "EDIT" down at the bottom left or click on the piano roll icon to the right of that. On Windows, you can use shift-tab to open the fullscreen editor and alt-E to open the mini editor.
